I grew up in Maryland and started doing improv with the Baltimore Improv Group in 2007, a theater where I eventually became the Executive and Artistic Director. In 2009, I moved to Chicago to pursue acting, writing, and comedy.
As a writer, I’ve written plays, screenplays, pilots, sketch shows, and satirical fiction (see my writing page here) and as an actor I’ve performed at The Artistic Home, The Annoyance Theatre, and many improv venues around the city.
As an actor, I’ve done commercials, web series, and short films and sketches ,as well as performing improv with several Chicago groups. I studied improv and acting at the Annoyance Theatre, iO, Second City, and The Artistic Home.
While most of my work in Chicago has been on stage, in the past year I’ve been moving towards film and web series and I have several short films and series in either pre- or post-production and plan to complete them in the fall.
Here are some of the things I’ve been working on lately.
- I co-host a fictional live talk show called The Radio Television Theater Hour at The Public House Theatre on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
- Sketch videos and other film projects I’ve participated in.
- Satirical fiction.
- True stories I’ve written about my time working in Baltimore real estate and for the government.
- The Historical Wire, a site of historical figures quoting The Wire.
- Twitter (@bobzatch).
